Johnny Crystal was small; at the age of 19, he stood five feet tall and weighed 126 pounds. Which is the same weight, he was, when he was 12. The “Growth Spurt”? It never happened for John. At some point, his body decided not to grow any more. It was a bit ironic because at birth, he weighed a hefty 8 pounds and three ounces. It wasn’t genetic. He had younger twin brothers; Dave and Andrew, who were well over six feet tall. His parents, Jenny and Victor Crystal were of average size. So, what happened? No one knows. Not doctors. Not therapists. Not priests. Johnny Crystal was simply… small. His hands, his feet, and general build was that of a teenager. His clean-shaven face had never felt the touch of a razor. No need, since he had peach fuzz and a flawless complexion. He had large dark blue eyes that seemed always to be considering something cosmic. Strikingly handsome, in a small way, his straight nose, full lips, and dimples in his cheeks when he smiled, which he didn’t do very often. Because he was….small. He had a mop of thick chestnut hair that refused order, and usually curled around his collar while it fell across a broad forehead. And, he had one other feature that puzzled everyone. A deep bass/baritone voice. It was smooth as Tennessee whiskey and downright unforgettable. Yes, Johnny Crystal was devastatingly handsome.
